Paraskavedekatriaphobia

Because of Paraskavedekatriaphobia. I fear my system will not boot on that day. Sigh....

Re: Paraskavedekatriaphobia

paraskavedekatriaphobia From Greek Παρασκευή ‎(Paraskeví, “Friday”) + δεκατρείς ‎(dekatreís, “thirteen”) + -phobia.

Compare Triskadecaphobia.

A little poetry:
Birdie, birdie in the sky
Why did you poo-poo in my eye?
I didn't sigh
I didn't cry
I just thank God
That cows don't fly

And just to make things much more spooky..

Flight AY666... Destination HEL... Friday the 13th... And was a 13 year old plane..

Cue up the theme from Twilight Zone...

Re: Paraskavedekatriaphobia

Is Friday the 13th an American superstition, an English population superstition or a global superstition?

Re: Paraskavedekatriaphobia

I believe it is mainly a western superstition. Which would include both America and England.

I also believe that places like Italy don't see anything bad about the 13th, but instead Friday the 17th is a bad luck day.

A also seem to recall something different in the Spanish speaking countries and something different yet again in Greece.

Re: Paraskavedekatriaphobia

In India and Thailand 13 is considered lucky as is the day of the month it falls on. Thai New Year is 13th April for example

And lets add to that, not to step on the lines separating the sidewalk pads from each other.

A phobia is a different disorder from a compulsive disorder although they both are anxiety disorders.
