infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
I've had to disable the infinality repo because it always times out. I can ping it but not load it in a browser. I was just wondering if someone knows what's up with it.

No issues with Infinality here Marko, with the repo or loading it in a browser.

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
That happened to me early this morning. Later in day, it was working OK. I can browse the repo files at this moment with no problem. fc16.x86_64. As to "what happened?". I don't know. I suppose the server was having an issue.

I've noticed it being intermittent the last few days too, but it's obviously not completely dead.

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
Now that I've switched to Fedora 16 I'm getting errors with the Infinality repository.
Code:
yum check-update

I wasn't experiencing any issues while running Fedora 17.
Edit: Now I'm experiencing the issues regardless of Fedora release.

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
The problem returned for me this morning (only have the infinality repo installed on my 32 bit laptop). My cure:
Code:
sudo sed -i 's/enabled=1/enabled=0/g' /etc/yum.repos.d/infinality.repo

I am seeing the same thing here. But, this is the first time I am seeing this. It worked just fine even yesterday.

It's working fine again now ..

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
I was experiencing the same issue with F18, but in my case it's because they haven't set up a dedicated F18 directory yet. Changing $releasver to 17 in the infinality repo file is a temporary workaround.

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
My provider has been sucking lately, which is probably why this was happening intermittently. I should have F18 builds available within the next week or two, but F17 builds should work until then.

Re: infinality.net constantly timing out on yum updates lately
I was just going to ask if you planned to have builds for F18. thanks for posting that
I did use the F17 build back on one of the F18 alpha installs I did, and it worked fine, but there were a couple of errors I got. I remember seeing someplace (I believe on your site) where it was the newer version of freetype that caused them, but can't remember for certain now. They were just warnings anyway, and everything still seemed to work correctly.

You're probably talking about the LD_PRELOAD errors. Those will happen any time you are using a program for a different architecture (32 bit) than the system you are on (64 bit). Yes, they are kinda annoying, I know.
The alternative is completely replacing the Fedora Freetype library, which isn't out of the question, but I just need to feel comfortable enough to do that. My patches are somewhat beta, and I can't guarantee they work in all situations, which is why I've held off on that.
