low resolution Dell OptiPlex 745 Intel 82Q963/Q965

any resolution for this issue? I've tried nomodesetting but that gets me as far as 1024x768.
no other solution do I need to revert to a really old kernel to fix this? (I had ubuntu 9.04 running previously and detected the highest res possible).

attaching my customized xorg.conf (forcefully adding the modes) and xorg log (renamed to .txt for upload)
