About sound on login / logout / shutdown

Hi all,

Fedora 17 64bit

No login and logout sound.

Login sound
---------------
following file found missing.
/usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo/desktop-login.ogg

Where can I download it?

I have no idea of logout sound. Please help. TIA

Worked with Fedora 16. Try the official mirror list http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/publiclist/Fedora/11/

Try to disable this ovirt-repo, temorarily at least:

But still no logout sound. Performed following steps;

$ gnome-session-properties
-> Add

Command: (having tried 3 versions)

/usr/share/sounds/freedesktop/stereo/desktop-logout.ogg

Logout -> Login -> Logout

Still no logout sound

..that's one possibility, another one is to simply execute:

$ /usr/share/gnome/shutdown/libcanberra-logout-sound.sh

As far as I know it should be enough to add one of these commands to "/etc/gdm/PostSession/Default" to execute them at logout. However, in my case this file obviously will be completely ignored, and I've absolutly no clue why. Maybe there is one hardcorestillremainedwithgnomeuser

in this forum who is able to give some useful hint.
Since I'm not a Gnome user (anymore) I'm out at this point, sry..

Even if it is played on logout, nothing says that pulse audio will still be around to pass it on. The user interface server is supposed to be terminated on logout, so it may not be there for anything to be played.

Another thing - the server may not yet be ready to function during login, so login sounds may also get lost...

I don't know why Fedora 17 makes this basic desktop feature so complicate. Anyway lot of thanks for your support.

I don't think Fedora 17 is user friendly for desktop. Just for curiosity I pursue the login and logout sound. I install Fedora 17 on this spare HD for testing Ovirt, the cloud.

I'll stop here together with my intent exploring "rotation desktop". It is quite simple on Ubuntu.
