Again?! They will probably unveil yet another 'new & more efficient' doc format ...

Instead of offering a genuinely better product, I'm sure they will simply lock down the format even more to prevent any cross-platform compatibility.

Microsoft also is lavishing attention on businesses that have weighed switching to Google Apps, a corporate-software bundle that includes versions of Gmail and the Google Docs document, spreadsheet and presentation software.

To counter Google's momentum, Microsoft is using a "Google Compete" team, whose mission is to keep Office customers from buying Google Apps.
A "Google Compete " team, well I guess they must have some interesting conference calls

Anyway, the competition keeps things interesting and anything that keeps people in jobs these days is a big plus

The problem is with Microsoft it is never competition, it is dominance and try to wipe out the rest of the community.

One of these day, probably later than sooner, the world will wake up and see what Microsoft is up to. Better late than never I am sure.

I am betting that Billy Boy Gates has cussed himself quite a lot for not buying up Google back years ago before they got to be so big.

That's the Microsoft way, y'know. Buy up the competition or lock them out of the hardware.
