After recovery, Fedora doesn't boot (black screen, no error message)

Hi,

I had to replace a disk in my raid-1 and unfortunately, the rebuild didn't work. I have a backup of the system, so I set up a new raid.
The system partition is an image (with partimage), I have a /home partition for the data, and a swap-partition.
I used a Live-CD and created three partitions in (almost) the same size as the old ones. I restored the system partition from the image and used mkswap/mkfs for the other partitions.

After reboot, the system froze directly after "trying to boot from cd...". So I tried to reinstall grub and made sure that the uuid's in fstab and grub.conf are correct. (The system-partion was correct, had to change the uuid from the home-partiton, the swap partition just had "/dev/mapper/asr_myraid2").

I'm able to start the grub-screen now, but when Fedora starts, I just get a black screen with a blinking cursor, no error message.

Don't really know what to do now..

Thanks for your help!

Re: After recovery, Fedora doesn't boot (black screen, no error message)

Since no one seems to be able to help me, perhaps anyone has a general advice how to recover Fedora from an image file?
Perhaps there's a better way than my naive attempt..?

Have you tried redoing grub?

http://www.opensourceisbetter.com/fix-grub2-ubuntu/

Explains how to do it for Grub2 in Ubuntu from the liveCD. Should be the same for Fedora except for the last 2 commands which would be:

Code:
sudo grub2-install /dev/sdwhatever
sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Sorry, should read more carefully. You said you have.

I've tried it with almost the same method, but I'm using a raid, so I mounted "/dev/mapper/asr_myraid1". Then, after chroot, I executed "grub" and in grub "root (hd0,0)" and "setup (hd0)".

I did this because I had following error using grub-install: "no corresponding BIOS drive"

And also, after the chroot I didn't have the command grub-update

I'm guessing the problem is my raid. But I was afraid to use sda or sdb, because I thought that breaks the raid...?

Sorry I can't help you with RAID, I've never used it at all.

update-grub is just an Ubuntu alias for "grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg" which tells grub to make the config file it uses.
