[SOLVED] libreoffice 3.6.1

Hi guys

I have downloaded libreoffice from the official website and I have tried to install it manually from terminal but if i try to launch it from terminal I have this error message

[house@Home ~]$ libreoffice3.6
/opt/libreoffice3.6/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I tried to install missing libraries but is the same. it doesn't start.

I tried to google too without results...

anybody can help me?

How did you install? (I'm using the version direct from LibreOffice, distributed as rpms.)

The file that is reported as missing is part of the package libpng, so make sure that is installed.

I'd suggest using the libreoffice in the repos, it's at version 3.5.6.2, so it's not very far behind the one from the website. LO has so many dependencies it's much easier to get it working via yum

This is kind of a long shot (and perhaps a bit complicated), but..... how much detail I need to provide depends very much on how well you understand Linux. I will assume some level of competence rather than holding your hand for all...

1. Remove your installed LibreOffice.
2. Install LibreOffice from the repository.
3. Remove the Libre that you just installed
4. Install your current version again.

Installing from the repository will automatically install all of the dependencies for you, so that when you go back to the latest greatest, the dependencies are now installed.

You need libpng-compat.

I fixed the problem installing libreoffice from yum and libpng-compat and then I removed the old libreoffice and I installed new version 3.6.1.2

You don't need to uninstall 3.6 I just installed libpng-compat and that worked for me.
