F12 64-bit and ATI Catalyst 9.12 - Need advice on how to downgrade to XOrg 7.4

Hiya all,

I've recently installed a Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, but it currently doesn't have support from any open source drivers (including MESA's experimental DRI drivers). The only other option would be ATI's Catalyst drivers, but 9.12 doesn't support Xorg 7.5 at the moment (the drivers disable Xorg; leaving a terminal only setup).

The question I've got is that is it possible to downgrade Xorg to 7.4 as a temp workaround and if so, how easy would it be to revert back to 7.5 afterwards.

Have you tried the radeonhd driver?

Thanks for the quick reply. I just installed it and rebooted the system - no change whatsoever. Is that the right method to restart Xorg?

Generally Ctrl-Alt-Backspace should work to restart Xorg.

Nope - restarting Xorg didn't do anything. Are there any other options or will I have to downgrade Xorg?

i also have a ati radeon hd 5770 fc12 64-bit and no other driver than vesa is working for me. max. resolution is 1280x1024. how to geht 1680x1050 working?

[ot]how can i adjust the speed of my graficcard fan?

My radeon X1300 fc12.max resolution is 1280X1024 too.how to get at least 1440X900?
