Fedora-18-i686-Live-Desktop.iso won't boot?

I have downloaded it three times. I Burn it with Brasero and get the following error:
BraseroReadom process finished with status 0
BraseroReadom Finished track successfully
BraseroReadom called brasero_job_get_done_tracks
BraseroReadom called brasero_job_get_fd_out
BraseroReadom disconnecting BraseroReadom from BraseroChecksumImage
BraseroReadom deactivating
BraseroChecksumImage called brasero_job_get_current_track
BraseroChecksumImage Setting new checksum (type = 2) 92182c89195462d3ff3a8c3d01110696 (23996a42adf5c338336d2f12e3959596 before)
BraseroChecksumImage called brasero_job_error
BraseroChecksumImage finished with an error
BraseroChecksumImage asked to stop because of an error
error = 27
message = "Some files may be corrupted on the disc"
BraseroChecksumImage stopping
BraseroChecksumImage closing connection for BraseroChecksumImage
Session error : Some files may be corrupted on the disc (brasero_burn_record brasero-burn.c:2856)

I keep getting this error. The DVD will not boot. No other error can I find
This the only other mention of error:
Brasero
hecksumImage called brasero_job_get_fd_out
dev=/dev/sr0

Sounds like your burner is not working.

(SOLVED)Re: Fedora-18-i686-Live-Desktop.iso won't boot?

I think you are right. I have a, store bought, F 18 DVD coming this afternoon in the mail. The DVD drive has always read correctly.
Thank you,
Harold

Hi,

Brasero has always been notoriously buggy when coming to burning bootable ISOs (you can even search this forum). Simply install any reasonable CD burner for Linux, like Gnome Baker, and burn your F18 DVD happily.

WWell,

try KDE distro of Fedora for the excellent K3b burner - I have had flawless results burning
Live iso CD and DVDs with it over the years,
although now I only use USBs directly from downloaded iso file.

If you adjust the burn speed to the lowest setting - may have better success. No trouble with Brasero and burning CD's and DVD's on low speed setting.

On older hardware, you may want to consider Xfburn

Or dd the ISO to a USB stick. Realize this obliterates anything on the USB stick. But Fedora ISOs, the LiveCD, DVD, and Netinst, are all designed to BIOS, UEFI, and UEFI Secure Boot by being dd'd to USB (as well as burned to CD/DVD media).

This can also be done with livecd-tools, although it's a bit more involved than dd, with multiple options including a persistent overlay for saving user data to.

Re: Fedora-18-i686-Live-Desktop.iso won't boot?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I got by mail a DVD for the F 18 Desktop and used it to install F 18. It worked until it updated. Now somthing is knocking out the MB bios. It is able to reinstall from a copy on board. F 18 will not boot but I still have F 15 working. The F 18 install is on a Samsung 120 gig SSD. It looks like this is going to be a learning experience for me.
Thanks again
Harold

OK f 18 does work after updates. My MB a990XA-UD3 Gigabyte has Bios problems since the F 18 install. I can select which Drive to boot and it boots F 18 on the WIN XP indicated drive. F 18 It is installed on a Samsung SSD. The SSD is much faster. uname -a tells me I have the 3.7.4-204 Kernel. This boot did not require a reinstall of the MB Bios and I am doing this in F 18.
Thanks again for all the help
Harold
