problem with musescore -- mscore

actually it seems the problem is with the midi sequencer
while trying to start qjackctl

07:48:27.976 Patchbay deactivated.
07:48:27.981 Statistics reset.
07:48:27.983 Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client. ALSA MIDI patchbay will be not available.
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: Permission denied
Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started

or if I start jack from the command line and then try to start qsynth

Qsynth1: Failed to create the MIDI driver (alsa_seq).
No MIDI input will be available.

modprobe snd-seq-midi
may have solved the problem testing some applications to verify
ok musescore is working now

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been running musescore on fc16 and noticed on a test install of fc17
that musescore would not play any midi file. I thought it might be a fluke
of the hardware (laptop) . But this morning I booted my prod system
with fc17 and still a problem with musescore the play button is frozen.
Not sure if I should open a bug report?

The musescore preferences are set to

use internal synthesizer
portaudio

the buttons for portaudio api and device do not respond to mouse clicks

When I start musescore from the command line I get the following messages

mscore
