Upgrade 10 to 11 over SSH

I'm upgrading from 10 to 11 remotely over ssh and have completed the preupgrade-cli part and got to a message that says "All finished. The upgrade will begin when you reboot." My questions is will there be anything I will need to do locally or will it upgrade without user input and start back up?

Thanks

After searching around I found that you can do remote upgrades with preupgrade-cli

running "preupgrade-cli --help" shows options for running vnc and configuring network with static of dhcp.

So I am about to setup using our static ip and am going to give this a try.

preupgrade-cli --vnc=tempass --ip=123.123.123.123 --netmask=255.255.255.0 --gateway=123.123.123.123 --dns=123.123.123.123 "Fedora 11 (Leonidas)"

Lets hope for the best.

UPDATE:
VNC working ... and upgrade going remotely... if anyone cares :P

UPDATE #2
Looks like everything we just fine. System backup and running under fedora 11.

# uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.i586 #1 SMP Tue Jun 16 23:11:39 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Fedora release 11 (Leonidas)

Re: Upgrade 10 to 11 over SSH

I care, and appreciate you sharing this on your post as I look to get our Fedora 8 box up to 13.... I'm in North Carolina, and the server is somewhere in England, physical access is not an option..

Re: Upgrade 10 to 11 over SSH

Fedora 8 to 13? An 8->13 upgrade is almost certainly not possible or would be so fraught with peril that I'd expect the box to break sometime along the way (I'd hazard a guess that even an upgrade with a DVD would break the system).

What sort of plan is it? On a lot of hosting plans, OS upgrades fall under the responsibility of the guys maintaining the racks.

Re: Upgrade 10 to 11 over SSH

The hosting company won't do it.

What would you suggest? The purpose of PreUpgrade was to avoid the one by one version upgrades that yum would do.

Re: Upgrade 10 to 11 over SSH

Some hosting company.

Suggest? I dunno. This is exactly why Fedora ain't cut out for server work especially if you don't have access to the box. It just hits EOL so fast and if you don't keep up, you can easily end up SOL. You could try going one version at a time with DVDs but you'd have to be there (and it'd probably break somewhere along the way). Preupgrade wouldn't work, I think, because you'd have to pull packages from mirrors -- which would be okay except for the fact that mirrors for EOL versions are almost certainly dead.

I think if you're sitting on F8 you're firmly into backup-and-reinstall territory. Which doesn't help if you have no physical access.

Since you've decided to start a new thread on your problem: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=248231 , which is probably better than tagging onto an old thread like this, I'll close this one.
