Question Install laptop driver.

I have an ASUS K42DY laptop with RADEON HD6470M 1GB Graphics Card. On the details it says that it is using VESA: SEYMOUR. How do I install the correct driver on my laptop if there's any? thanks!

Re: Install laptop driver.

By default you're using the free radeon driver. If you want to install the ATI proprietary driver try to add rpmfusion repository and
Code:
yum install kmod-catalyst

I followed this and on the installation it says complete. I rebooted my machine and it still says that it is using the same driver. How do I enable the ATI driver?

Re: Install laptop driver.

It is automatically enabled when you reboot the machine. Try
Code:
dmesg | grep -i fglrx
It doesn't really matter what it says on the Gnome info page. Seymour is just the nickname for your graphics chip.

I see, thanks for that information. I'll go ahead and try this.
