Not enough space. I have 20 gigs of unallocated space?

So i have 20 gbs of unallocated space on my hard disk. I get this error when i try to install fedora using the "Use existing space" Option.

Shouldn't it create a new partition automatically? I have 400 gigs on my C: drive, and 20 gigs of Unallocated space. Why doesn't this work.

My theory is that this isn't truly unformatted space like i need. It says it's unallocated though?

So apparently you can only have four partitions. Is this true? In that case i can't install it? Here's a picture of my disk management. [2] http://i.imgur.com/fCbmh.png what should i do?

Those are Windows dynamic volumes in that screenshot. I don't know why or what to do about it, but I have never seen a thread like this end happily. Maybe somebody will have a way this time.

Should i just say **** it, and use wubi ubuntu? I've done that before.

Fedora doesn't enable the support for Windows dynamic disks in their kernel. You would have to rebuild the Fedora kernel to get the support.

If it was just 1 or 2 dynamic partitions, then you could install Fedora and just not access those.

About your only options are to either rebuild the Fedora kernel, convert the dynamic disc to a basic disc, or go with another distro

I'm not going to convert the disk, and i've come to terms with no fedora.

What distros do support a dynamic disc though? I would much prefer a legit linux over wubi/flash user.

Now that, I have now idea.

I don't know of any major distros that compile the kernel with LDM support enabled.

I believe Mandrake supported it for awhile, but the installer didn't, and I don't believe it supported an entire drive being dynamic.

If you can boot Fedora or any other LiveCD try

fdisk -l

With a standard MBR partitioning scheme you can only have four partitions, that's either four primary partitions or three primary partitions and one extended partition. The extended partition can include a large number or logical partitions.

Looks like you already have four partitions which would explain the error message.

Do you really need the HP_TOOLS partition?
