What gdb does is shows what the program was doing last before it crashed, with the most recent calls having the lowest numbers.
Try moving
/etc/fonts/infinality/conf.d/60-group-non-tt-fonts.conf away and retest, rinse and repeat. Or you can take a slegdehammer approach and remove the whole infinality package, or whatever the name of the package shipping those files is.

I've removed all the infinality-related packages, but Google Earth still keeps crashing.

Here's the crashlog:
Code:

Now you're back to Persian conf file, as I was initially. Remove it and Google earth should start.

In fact, withouth the infinality packages and that conf file, Google Earth at least can start (Earth surface is invisible, but that's another issue...).

Thanks for your precious help!

Re: Google Earth 7 will not start on Fedora 17 64bit

I followed these instructions and got GE running on Fedora 17, but also with the invisible terrain.

The terrain appeared back when removing/installing GE.

cheers

Re: Google Earth 7 will not start on Fedora 17 64bit

A new build of Google Earth 7 (i.e. 7.0.1.8283) should be available, but it isn't downloadable from the official web site yet: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/12/downl...ith-fixed.html

Did anyone managed to download an RPM for it? If so, does it solve this issue without needing to remove /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-fonts-persian.conf?

Re: Google Earth 7 will not start on Fedora 17 64bit

Forget all of this ... I tried it all ... nothing worked for Google Earth 7 on Fedora 17 64-bit. After searching for a while found another forum that someone posted a valid link to download Google Earth 6 (worked).
