services required by the gnome shell?

after disabling a bunch of services to trim start up memory and boot time, I find that dwm, mate, mate with compiz, and openobx all work the same. the gnome shell, however, will not start up. here is a list of services disabled:

abrt*.service auditd.service avahi-daemon.* bluetooth.* dev-hugepages.mount dev-mqueue.mount fedora-configure.service fedora-loadmodules.service fedora-readonly.service ip6tables.service iptables.service irqbalance.service mcelog.service rsyslog.service sm-client.service sys-kernel-config.mount sys-kernel-debug.mount

can anyone see anything there that, disabled, would prevent the gnome shell from even starting up?

I think it needs bluetooth somehow.

Re: services required by the gnome shell?

I seem to recall having to disabled in debian wheezy S:/

I'll give it a shot though

I tried that and it didn't work. But, when I installed compiz + mate recently so I thought what if thats messing with it, so sure enough I can get the compiz cube on my error message. I changed it to forced fallback and it boots fine, but I need now it figure out

1. why is gnome tring to use compiz as a WM when I never told it too?
2. how do I change it?

Re: services required by the gnome shell?

turns out the project took it out of repos for a reason. no known fix. installed a minimal kde install and using kwin in MATE to get the effects I want
