Allow only 1 GUI session

Hello,

I am running F16 and I connect to my PC remotely using VNC. But when I remote connect, the PC becomes active and whatever 'm performing remotely one can see. Is there a way to lock the local login when one is remotely connected and/or disconnect the remote login when one logs in locally? Just as we do in any Windows env?

Thanks to all in advance,

aBBy.

Re: Allow only 1 GUI session

Dear Abby007,

As far I know, the Windows way of working is not possible out of the box. However, there are some possibilities:

A.
You can use "vncserver" to start a VNC session which is completely independent of the main desktop.

B. Xrdp: Like A, but more control from the client side. I do not know whether it's packaged or that you have to compile it from scratch. The Windows remote desktop client is used.

C. NX or the FreeNX version. Easy to install/use and you can choose to take over the foreground session or to have an independent session. Very fast.

And may be some more possibilities,

I hope this helps you.

Kind regards,
