Suspend Hangs; Shutdown/Restart requires Password?

Okay, I don't know what this falls under, software or what...

But basically I was originally using Fedora 14, and everything was fine. I upgraded 1 version at a time over 3 days, and came into some problems. I am aware that preupgrade does have the abilitity to go 2 at a time or something...but I was hoping one version at a time might have a better chance of "breaking it" less...

Fedora 15 was a dream as far as I could see... Just had to set it in Fallback Mode and everything pretty-much was the way I want... But by switching to 16 or 17, somewhere along there, things started causing problems. Due to video driver issues, I just kept going to 17, which seemed to cooperate better with them in the end... However, I noticed a couple of things and Google doesn't seem to have to answer for me as far as I can see...

1) When I try to "suspend", it will do everything it's supposed to but except shut off! LOL The monitor tells me there's no video signal and everything (which seems slightly different from what it usually says, but I can't make out the difference)

2) When I try to shutdown or restart it will do so, but it asks me for a password, saying there are other users on the computer...This happens when I do both from Terminal (shutdown -r now) or from the button in the corner...However there aren't any other users... Also, strangely if you cancel and/or log out first, there's that dedicated shutdown button in the corner, it works properly???

I noticed there's a failed "LSB" service when I hit "Esc" on startup... But I tried disabling iscsi.service and it didnt complain in Terminal, but there's a lscsid there that is on, do these have anything to do with it??? Perhaps a fail/hang?
Thanks in advance, I'm not amazing at Linux so bear with me, ...

Re: Suspend Hangs; Shutdown/Restart requires Password???

Anyone?

Also I've noticed that it's actually completely random when it just shuts down properly, not necessarily when I hit cancel at the authentication part... Thing is, I should NEVER have to authenticate a shutdown...ever, ever, ever.... Just hit shutdown and it does it...

For suspend to work you'll have to install all drivers correctly including video drivers. Check /var/log/pm-suspend.log for details after a failed suspend.

Somewhere between Fedora 14 and Fedora 16 the user ids have changed from 500 to 1000. The "other" user is yourself. Try to chown all your files to your new user id.

Code:
id

Okay, thank you for that.... Is everything supposed to be 1000 now instead then?

This is what ID output....
Quote:
[***@localhost ~]$ id
uid=500(***) gid=500(***) groups=500(***),10(wheel) context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023
From the log I get:
