That printer is only capable of host-based printing, aka Windows printer. Per HP's website, it is not even supported by OS X.

Try the HPLIP software that Linux has for HP Printers.

The HPLIP site shows that printer as supported (at least, as of version 3.9.6b)

I have never tried to install that software in Fedora so maybe someone else knows how. Probably just have to search in the yum repository? Try that first, I guess.

Then see, if your printer can be detected. Try the CUPS online site to set it up if you need to but maybe the HPLIP software will detect it (read the HPLIP site so maybe google to find it?).

Over here you can find the complete tutorial on how to install HP printers on Linux. Special focus on setting up network printers.

Looks like I was right, but also wrong. From now on, I will check http://www.hplip.net when dealing with HP printers and linux.

Hello,

I just set my HP1018 up again since upgrading to F11.

Follow the instructions at this site. http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/

Unfortunately, there is some compiling involved so you need the development tools installed.

This has always worked for me. (Even though F10 and F11 always recognizes the printer the automatically created default queue never seems to work.)

Good luck!
