Cannot update glib2

I upgraded to FC17 and I cannot update glib2. Here is the yum output

I have asked this question on several forums hoping to get an answer but none was forthcoming. I then took the brute force method and removed the i686 versions. In addition to the two packages in question, 59 other packages were removed. I was then able to update the 64 bit versions. I tried to reinstall the 32 bit version but would up with file conflicts with the 64 bit version. I looked and found 64 bit versions for all that were deleted. I am running FC17-64. I do not plan on doing any development. Do I need any of the removed packages? I can supply the list if necessary.
