Re: HP Wireless Scanner No Longer Works
I can confirm that the same thing happens to me, except that I do not have a wireless scanner. I have been unable to scan using Xsane or any other software since doing a clean install of Fedora 17. I tried installing both the Fedora packages and the run file at different times. Neither installation worked. Uninstalling the version from the run file and reinstalling the packages did not help.
My printer (HP Officejet Pro L7680) also was not recognized on setup and I had to enter its IP address manually. That did not work with scanning, either. Printing was OK, fax was OK, but the scanner would not work in spite of the fact that it could be seen by scanimage and other pieces of software and receiving 0 warnings and 0 errors from hp-check -t.
Scanning would fail with end of file errors. I have been pulling my hair out over this for several days. Downgrading the packages fixed all the problems, including autodetection of the printer through mDNS.
I had everything working, so I decided to upgrade the packages to the new version to see if there would be improvement. Once again scanning ceased to work and I got repeated end of file errors like before. Downgrading back to 3.12.4 once again got everything working without any configuration changes or adjustments.
