| F18 Development Pretty much exactly what it sounds like it is. This is the place to discuss and assist in the community development of F18, post Alpha.
WARNING: Any pre-release versions, Beta included, are for experienced testers only. Back up all existing data and read all threads in the version Development Forum before attempting an install. Errors can and will likely occur which may include data destruction or inability to boot other partitions on any and possibly all attached hard drives.
While FedoraProject needs and appreciates testers, you must remember to report issues directly to Bugzilla, after checking for pre-existing bugs. |

Re: Fedora 18 Flash Screen...?
Hello,
I meant "splash" screen. Sorry.
I prefer F17 fireworks splashcreen to F16's. I hope F18's is even better.

Re: Fedora 18 Flash Screen...?
So you actualy dont even mean splash screen but login background?
Or maybe just my twisted mind refers splashscreen to grub screen, oh well, default has some fireworks too
I changed to starfield anyway, looks smoother imho.
And the login screen looks like the fireworks, just without the fireworks (so just the blue bg with a few sparkles)
EDIT: Plymouth is by defafult text or charge (either white/blue progressbar or fedora icon), depending on your install method.

Why does mine look so boring on F18 (filling Fedora bubble)?
I was wondering anyway, the gdm background is grey for me and once I login it loads the blue background with the stripes on it (are these fireworks?)

Re: Fedora 18 Flash Screen...?
No thats no fireworks, just blue with sparkles (english is not my mothers tounge).
I had changed /etc/default/grub and relpaced "system" theme with "starfield" (see themes in /boot/grub2/themes).
EDIT:
Oh the fedora bubble is named "charge".
I have a script to let you easy change your current installed plymouth themes:
http://sea.hostingsociety.com/?p=Scr...rh-plymouth.sh
To get full use, you might want to run:
Code:
sudo yum install plymouth-them*
previous to the script.
Of course you can manualy change plymouth theme with this syntax:
Code:
sudo plymouth-set-default-theme solar --rebuild-initrd
Solar and/or text are my favorite plymout themes

That the default GDM background. If you use another display manager, you will see the background again.

Re: Fedora 18 Flash Screen...?
I don't think the final F18 background is done yet, I think what's in Alpha/Beta is placeholder art.

The default background is the one that sea posted above. The second one that shows his login screen. The blue backround.

If you are referring to having more time at the grub menu, you could change the value of "GRUB_TIMEOUT" in /etc/default/grub to a desired duration (in seconds).
