Apple Completely Lost the Plot?

The court of appeal has reprimanded Apple over the wording of the statement on its website acknowledging that Samsung did not infringe the iPad tablet's registered design, and ordered it to put an altered statement on its homepage – rather than tucked away in a linked page – until 14 December.

The acknowledgement put up last week, linked from the home page by a tiny link, was deemed to be "non-compliant" with the order that the court had made in October. The court has now ordered it to correct the statement – and the judges, Lord Justice Longmore, Lord Justice Kitchin and Sir Robin Jacob, indicated that they were not pleased with Apple's failure to put a simpler statement on the site.

After being reprimanded by the court of appeal, Apple UK has put a large-type acknowledgement to Samsung that its rival's tablets did not copy the iPad on its home page – but you won't see it without scrolling the page.

The reason: Apple has included a piece of code that runs when the page is loaded and finds out how tall your browser is. It then resizes the current main picture, known in the code as the "hero" picture and presently showing its new iPad mini, so that it always pushes the apology below the visible area of the screen.

Can't remember Microsoft ever playing games like this, or does Apple think they can run around legal system willy nilly now that they are successful? Or do they just think they are above the law?

Funny thing about this is that Samsung makes the CPU in the iPhone.
