Thumbs up Srcds on Fedora

Hi, I'm running a home dedicated server for the source gaming engine (srcds) and I've run into an issue with Fedora.

I'm using THIS mod server files. It uses the Episode 1 engine.

The problem is, I can install the mod as normal according to srcds.com But when I start the server, I don't see the server in favorites after adding it manually, in my lan, or on the master server list. I don't know if it's because it's an older mod, or what the differences are. I've already made sure that all the required ports are forwarded.

I can say for certain, that the same server files and methods work for Ubuntu, but I'd rather use Fedora. If anyone who has experience with this has any input, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Srcds on Fedora

Have you tried turning off the firewall? (service iptables stop). If this makes the thing appear, you will need to allow the port through the firewall by adding an ACCEPT.
You may also have issues with SELinux which should be fixed by adding the appropriate permission or, if you prefer to live dangerously, setting SELinux to permissive.
I generally set SE to permissive to help diagnosis and then add the appropriate permission when I set back to enforcing.

Re: Srcds on Fedora

Thank you very much, I've struggled with this for a while. Disabling the firewall allowed the Lan and Favorites to appear, so I'll add the appropriate ports for that. It did not however allow the server to be shown on the Master Server List. Setting SELinux to permissive seems to have remedied that as well.

Thank you very much, marking as solved.
