VNC Viewer with file transfer?

Hello:

The last I knew, there still didn't exist a VNC Viewer program for Linux that has UltraVNC or TightVNC file transfer. Is this still the case? I've looked around and so far I haven't found a Linux client that supports either Tight or Ultra file transfer. For example, we are currently connecting to Windoze servers that run UltraVNC server. It would be nice if the Linux VNC client could support file transfer. The alternative is to run the VNC viewers in Wine but I'd rather use a native Linux one if there is such a thing. Thanks!!....

To be honest, over a LAN you might use Samba and over the Internet, ssh.

i can't think of anything worse than tranferring files over the vnc protocol!

i've got a feeling that nomachine can do it, as it uses ssh underneath vnc.

really you should just use scp/sftp or even fuse-sshfs.

I know I could use Samba or SCP, but it's a little more headache dealing with the Windoze servers. Plus some of the users aren't as familiar with some of the programs do handle those other protocols. If we had a VNC client in Linux that handled file transfer, that is our most convenient option, if it is available.

I looked at RealVNC but the Unix version is $50. I was hoping that with the tons of VNC programs out there, that one of the free ones would have file transfer.

For now I tried running UltraVNC viewer with Wine and it works pretty well. For some reason it disconnected after doing a file transfer, but it at least works, and it's fairly quick. I guess this will have to do for now. It would definitely be a bonus if there was a native VNC client for Linux with file transfer though. Thanks for the suggestions!
