Clone working F16 to another box

Hi all,

So basically i wabt to move my working F16 from an 6yrs old laptop to a new one that knows about UEFI. I changed in BIOS to boot in legacy mode, zeroed the new hdd with and then just cloned the old hdd to the new, bigger hdd using dd.
When booting the new laptop, it says that it cannot find a boot partition. Do I have to reinstall grub? If so, why?
The partition table on both disks is GPT. Could it have something to do with the fact that F16 is installed on a LUKS encrypted LVM volume? (I asked about enlarging it here)

Re: Clone working F16 to another box

I copied over the partition tables using gdisk. The tool found no errors regarding the partitions.
I also installed grub on /dev/sda but the laptop still did not see any bootloader on HDD.
I'm now upgrading to F17 and hoping that it will rewrite whatever got broken.
