Question Shutdown is not functioning

Dear all,

I have a PAE kernel. I was following the Nvidia guide for F17 and installed akmod, then when I rebooted I found problems with graphics, I removed akmod and and all packages proposed to install for that and installed kmod packages for PAE kernel. Now it is working, but I mention a new small problem:

When I go in the menu (Axe) on the left and click Power Off, or go to the Quit button on the right and click Shut Down, I do not see the next window to shut my system down.

I can run the terminal and execute:
Code:
shutdown -h 0
But I prefer to be a normal user.

Could you please help me how to get it back and working.

fwiw - I have two FC17 machines (one 32 bit, other 64 bit) also suffering this - both with video driver issues I haven't yet resolved.

Re: Shutdown is not functioning

Dear,

There are no video driver issues for me, as I said it is working now. I'm still trying to find out why is the Shutdown option not working.. The same for Logout option.

Though the Lock Screen option is fine.

As far as shut-down goes, that was taken care of in the updates. I was having the same problem, but it went away after the first few updates.

Re: Shutdown is not functioning

What a piece of crap? Sorry... So I found the problem: in dconf editor I set org->gnome->desktop->lockdown->disable-log-out to true and that's why it is was not working. But why is Shutdown bound on this? So now I unset it back and Log Out has appeared and Shutdown is working.

I have another weird problem. I installed Kile (LaTex editor) and it installed in a chain lots of KDE crappy apps that I do not need. But when I want to remove them one-by-one, it says: "No way, remove everything or nothing" --- what???!! It was not so in F17 before, and why it is now?

Jesus, give me strength.

Re: Shutdown is not functioning

See my post somewhere on how to disable the LogOut button because as it has been told, dConf editor does not help here.
