[Gnome-Shell] Add Download Folder to Favorites
I noticed that the Dash (Favorites Bar) allow me to add only applications, however I wanted to add folders on this Dash.

No, I WILL NOT READ MORE! Why do you keep posting guides and linking to your site? Are you trying to collect hits? If you have guides post them here, that is what this forum is for!

Well I'm getting fed up with all the self serving blog type guides posted to the guides section and will be moving all of them to the links section in future.
I believe all guides posted here should include all the info on the fedoraforum server , anything else isn't acceptable.

Luckily, or because my memory is failing with old age and bursting blood vessels in the head, I know very little about Linux these days to write any guides in my blog, so no worries there.

Or..
Code:
#yum install gnome-shell-extension-places-menu
And you're done.
It adds a small folder icon to the top panel from which you can access ANY folder you add to 'places'.

Re: [Gnome-Shell] Add Download Folder to Favorites
This worked for me in Centos 6.2.
You can also open a Nautilus, navaigate to the directory you want to be under "places".
On the toolbar go Bookmarks, Add Bookmarks-now you'll see the folder listed under places.

Reason for moving to Linux: In Jan 07 Windows Vista was released to the public (in beta form) and the time spent with BSOD errors and system freezes was over the top. Windows finally drove me to find an OS that had more stability.

Is their a sticky to rules stating how one is posting guides on this site?
Code:
No, I WILL NOT READ MORE! Why do you keep posting guides and linking to your site? Are you trying to collect hits? If you have guides post them here, that is what this forum is for!
I have no clue what is allowed and what is not except linking to another website.
And no I'm not being smart, I just like to state in all fairness to the guy who posted a external link to his guide their are no rules or guidelines on posting guides.

Nope there aren't... If you need to peddle your tuts around well respected forum then they are typically not of a great quality or knowledge or get you halfway through and have to pay a subscription for the punchline...
Either way - no thanks, sorry...
By the way I don't buy double glazing / telephony / energy supplier off the doorstep either - and I doubt many here will...
If we wanted to get mugged off we'd all still be championing Windows now wouldn't we

Yes there are rules if you post in the guides section.
Read the description up at the top when you go into the Guides section:
Quote:
|
Guides & Solutions (No Questions) Post your guides here (No links to Blogs accepted). You can also append your comments/questions to a guide, but don't start a new thread to ask a question. Use another forum for that.
|
Notice it states No links to Blogs accepted
But in this case, you don't have to worry about this guy's blog for now... It's been deleted.
