I have recently installed a fresh copy of Fedora 12. I noticed right away that audio playback works at first, but the volume fades to silence over the span of 15-20 seconds or so. Killing pulseaudio causes volume to be restored, but the problem repeats itself as soon as any new audio output is generated (mplayer, flash, even system sounds like volume up/down sound effects.)
During playback, pavumeter does not show any decrease in output volume on either the front-left or front-right channel. Running pulseaudio with -vvvvv only shows the following interesting output (not sure if I'm a good judge of what's interesting so please let me know if I should post full logs.):

This last message is what sits on the screen as the volume fades away.
