ALSA & PulseAudio No sound SB Audigy

Hey guys,

I've read what feels like every forum post going with regards to this issue, nothing is helping, ive got no sound from my soundcard and yet Pulse volume metre for playback shows sound.

I uninstalled and reinstalled PulseAudio with associated tools and it does recognise my soundcard, just dosnt play anything, nothing is muted from what I can see, ALSA mixer shows one volume slider and in ALSAmixer i can select soundcard as SB Audigy and adjust the volume levels of all the channels but when i exit ALSAmixer it goes straight back to the single slider. I don't know what else to try please help.

So its a Audigy2 [SB Audigy 2 [SB0350b]
I'm running FC12 (As i can't upgrade because my boot partition is only 200mb and I have a LV encrypted volume that I can't resize.)

You could backup your important data on a external disk, and then install Fedora 17 without a LVM setup. If you don't want to reinstall your distro to a current release every year, it might be better to use CentOS or Scientific Linux instead. Because a Fedora releases gets security and bugfix update for one year and then it stops, while above mentioned (RHEL besed) distros are supported via updates much longer.

I like Fedora, I don't fancy the learning curve with the other distros, I've been abroad for 2 years n now i'm all out of date! I've got over 400Gb of music n films that I am unable to back-up until I buy a new HDD,
If i hadnt setup this install with LVMs and encrypted volume I would have been able to resize the partitions with gparted n be on my way, I dont even know why I went for an encrypted volume It's not like I've got anything dogey - just the geek factor i think.

Anyway I'm off topic I can't figure this sound issue out for the life of me its driving me mad, This sound card used to work in this setup.

Maybe the card is junk? It happens from time to time. Just a thought.

Moved to EOL (End Of Life) Versions.
