How do I fix System -> Shutdown -> Restart?
Whenever I try to restart from System -> Shutdown -> Restart, it merely logs me out instead of reboots... This is becoming very troublesome to me, so a little help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I haven't seen this behaviour, but others have reported it. So you certainly want to search this forum for recent comments.
Does the system shutdown properly when you use the "shutdown -h now" command ?

Yes. The information I gave before was not 100% true, either. SOMETIMES, not WHENEVER, it merely logs out.
Either way, I also have another problem, if someone wouldn't mind answering. When the system DOES successfully shutdown/restart, it always beeps. I've added "blacklist pcspkr" to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, which used to work, but now it doesn't seem to have any effect anymore. Anyone have any ideas?

This happens to ma as well, but it's not consistent. Sometimes it shutdowns or restarts normally, then sometimes it just logs me out of X.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it either.

Sometime it happens to me. I am not sure if it is the cause, but it happens when I have a root terminal open (using "su -", and forgot to "exit")

I am always quick to logout of a terminal with root access, so I never leave one open and this problem still happens to me randomly.
However, I have noticed that it is not happening since I started using KDM instead of GDM to sign in with. I wanted to experiment with the different desktops and KDM makes it much easier to switch so I started using it, now I haven't seen this problem anymore.
So my hunch is that it's a bug in GDM, but I can't be sure of it.

Now that you mention it. I don't think having this problem any more since booting to run level 3 and startx (GNOME) manually.

Fedora 11 has been issue after issue for me, which is why my main desktop still runs fedora 10. Just get to a terminal and type reboot, or to make a shortcut, make a desktop launcher, use the application in terminal description, and for the command, su -c "reboot" Hope this helps. I just use that button and click the restart on the login screen when it loads, but it usually reboots right anyway.
