Photos from the 1900s in color.

I never realised how much difference color can make on photos from the past.
I find it quite wonderful to see 100 years ago in color and how much closer it brings you to actually getting a feel for what it was like back then.

Wow, that's wonderful. I also found the explanation of how the old color photographs are digitally recovered interesting: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/empire/making.html
I used to do something similar along the line of this, but much simpler: we were making composite image of stars so it was much easier to "register" the objects on different layers: just align the star "points" and it would be OK.

I remember thinking the same thing the first time I saw color film of WWII - "Wow, that stuff really happened!"
