Unhappy Gnome-session issues over SSH

Hey guys Ive had this problem with 3 versions of Fedora now. Currently using version 12.

I connect using putty via SSH. Then gnome-session. It works ok at first but eventually putty locks up and crashes. Usually when I make a change to the system or something. I can idle for as long as I want to logged in to SSH via putty the only problem is with gnome-session. I cant believe its such a pain to use gnome-session. rdesktop to any machine from the server works flawlessly forever. Are there any specific settings I need to use? Should I use a different windows manager over SSH? Any help is welcome thanks!

If anyone knows where I should look on the system to find the error that is good info too, thanks.

I don't really know anything about putty but you could try VNC or NX. VNC is quite stable for me and is accessable via ssh using port forwarding...

Could not get vnc-server running it was a nightmare. I ended up installing hummingbird exceed and using it over ssh instead of xming. Runs flawlessly just much slower. The problem is Xming has gone to crap. Ive been troubleshooting this for two distros now and the entire time it was my Xwindows client. Hopefully anyone who has this headache finds this post and switches their Xwindows system on windows.
