Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

Ok, i will try mock again.
Yesterday i had some problems to use it.
I read that it's better use a other user account as the normal with mock for security reason?

I added mock group to my user account for convenience as I consider the risk minimal.

Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

Code:
rpmbuild -ba --target=i686 caja.spec

+ cd caja-1.1.2
+ /bin/rm -rf /home/rave/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/caja-1.1.2-5.fc16.i386
+ exit 0
Yeap, with the '--target=i686' i don't need the extra cflag call.

Code:
[rave@vbox32 updates]$ rpm --showrc |grep optflags
optflags              : -O2 -g -march=pentium3
  CFLAGS="${CFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CFLAGS;
  RPM_OPT_FLAGS="%{optflags}"
  CFLAGS="${CFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CFLAGS ;
  CXXFLAGS="${CXXFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CXXFLAGS ;
  FFLAGS="${FFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export FFLAGS ;
-11: optflags	-O2 -g -march=i386 -mtune=i686
[rave@vbox32 updates]$ rpm --showrc |grep -e optflags -e global_cflags
optflags              : -O2 -g -march=pentium3
  CFLAGS="${CFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CFLAGS;
  RPM_OPT_FLAGS="%{optflags}"
  CFLAGS="${CFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CFLAGS ;
  CXXFLAGS="${CXXFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export CXXFLAGS ;
  FFLAGS="${FFLAGS:-%optflags}" ; export FFLAGS ;
-11: optflags	-O2 -g -march=i386 -mtune=i686
That' the problem.
If i had installed fedora 32 bit in vbox, fedora installed a pae kernel.
I change this by installing the normal 32 bit kernel because i need the kernel-devel package for installing the vitualbox-guest-additions.
Maybe this the reason why my installation had the wrong cflags?

Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

After i exept and learned that mock stop the build if a BuildRequires is missing in the spec.file, the first packages for i686 are built.
But with mate-conf i have big problem.
Building the x86_64 package with mock works after i put in a missing BuildRequires in the spec file.
For i686 mocks stops in the %prep part (./autogen.sh ).

What does this mean 'suffix of object files' and which which object files are meant?

What does this mean 'suffix of object files' and which which object files are meant?

Try replacing the autogen line with
Code:
NOCONFIGURE=1 ./autogen.sh

Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

Yes,
I've tested it at 08:20 am Berlin.Germany time.
Pls do a 'yum clean all' and try again.

---------- Post added at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:23 AM ----------

Packages for 32 bit OS are now available!
Installation with 'yum groupinstall MATE-Desktop' is tested in virtualbox.
I hope that's the package are working, but i can't test them extensive because i'm using 64 bit OS.
Feedbacks are welcome.

when I do an update get the i686 packages which confict with the x86_64 packages.
I get an error like this one for every package.

Pls do 'yum clean all' and try again.
I have reorganize the repo today, deleting old packages etc.
Maybe you have old repo data.

Shouldn't the same version of both i686 and x86_64 be in the same repo as each other.
Also you need to supply both arch debuginfo packages (x86_64 are missing) or none at all.

Code:

Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

Ok, i've check all pakages in the repo for package mismatch. I found 2 and have uploaded the necessary versions.
--mate-power-manager
--caja-actions

@ debuginfo files
I didn't thought that this might be a problem. With mock i rebuild all packages for x86_64 and i386 exept 4 packages that doesn't build. But this is another story.
I've build the missing packages for i686 on virtualbox fedora 32 bit installation.
In result i've no debuginfo packages for this packages.
For the moment i'm lazy and i decide to remove the debuginfo packages from the repo.

Hope this fix the issue. Pls update your repo cache in one hour.

Edit:
Repo is updated

Re: MATE Desktop for fedora 16

For better integration of compiz i've build 'compiz-mate-gtk' and 'compiz-mate-conf' from the original compiz package.
My idea is simple, i want only to build these 2 packages from the src.rpm.
So that you can use them with the normal compiz version
The other resulting packagess i've delete during the rpmbuild process.
What I have done in the individual:
-- Migrate the compiz package to mate with the mate migrate script.
https://github.com/benpicco/mate-scripts
-- fixing the resulting /core/gtk/window-decorator/marco.c
-- removing the other resulting packages
-- remove obseletes emerald-themes in compiz-mate-gtk, because except 3 themes the fixed for compiz 0.95 emerald version works fine.

With 'compiz-mate-gtk' and 'compiz-mate-conf' marco instead of metacity is working.
You can switch between marco and emerad if ermerald is installed with the compiz-fusion icon.
Using mateconf to configurate compiz.
One file of compiz-mate-gtk is conflicting with compiz-gtk.
But i don't think that anyone who has installed mate use the gnome-fallback modus.
So it's not a big problem.

I've upload the packages for testing to fedora-mate-desktop-applications-testing.
Also the src.rpm. Maybe Leigh can you inspect them?

In general is this OK for you Leigh?

Note:
This packages are only for testing in the moment.
