Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)

This is great! Now all I need are weather panel applets so I don't need to worry about gdesklets slowing the system down any more.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)

I've uploaded the cinnamon files to my repo and will update my guide later tonight. I need to do other things as well like remove Adobe Air.

Leigh, the process of signing the packages removes mentions of your name from the packages, do you want me to put something on my website?

There's no need.

Do you know how to change the user's session to Cinnamon at the command line?

I can't seem to find a similar hack like I did for LXDE.

I thought --replace was temporary and the session reverts to Gnome 3 on next login?

Ok, I would edit /var/lib/AccountsService/users/leigh to change session permanently

Best tip for cinnamon by cavedweller

I was just passing through and reading the posts. Right now the panel is stuck to the bottom. If it hasn't been posted somewhere you might want to install dconf Editor. Then launch it. Under org you should find cinnamon. If you click on it and remove the checks out of the overview-corner-hover and overview-corner-visible, that will get rid of that annoying overview button tripping you evrytime you get near the menu bar and file.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)

I installed cinnamon on Fedora 16 32 bit. It works perfectly, so far as i can tell. The only problem I have is that the fonts for all the menus are unreadable. They work, but you cannot read them. Missing letters, or mystery characters, or both. When you open an app all the fonts are perfect, it is just the menus, and anything on the top and bottom bar. Has anyone else run into this?

The future 1.1.4 release is shaping up nicely.

I will be packaging cinnamon-settings and updating the extension package next repo update.

That does look nice, and the menu is now on top. Great replacement for gnome-shell.

Does it have the option to to mooove the bar back on to the bottom?

I just dislike things at the top of my screen.

There's options in cinnamon-settings to move it to top or bottom.

No it's going to be a separate package that I will include in the repo when 1.1.4 is released.
