Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
I'm trying to boot Fedora 17 from a USB, I tried both the DVD version and the one on the main page. I've used: Linux Live USB Creator, Live USB Creator (Fedora-one), and Unetbooting. I also tried after clicking "a" and
Code:
root=live:CDLABEL=LIVE if=/home/per/Fedora-17-x86_64-DVD.iso of=/dev/sdb
Everything failed. Fedora just don't want to install no matter what I'm trying. Please help me out, I don't want to go over to Ubuntu, I'm really frustrated about this issue, it's 7th time i format the USB in hope to get this to work at some point. Everything is going against me atm I want to install on my Asus Zenbook laptop, and got no disc station, so USB is only alternative. In boot options #1 it's set to [UEFI: Voyager Corsa...] which is the USB.

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
I do not know what the error really talks about since I have never used Live USB creator succesfully. But, I am going to suggest something that has worked for me every single time with Fedora iso files.
Code:
dd if=iso_file_details of=/dev/sdb
Replace sdb with what is appropriate, if necessary. I would recommend doing this after formatting the USB .. Hope this helps.
Welcome to the forum!

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
Thanks, appreciated =) So when the menu comes up, i click "a" and then write
Code:
dd if=/home/per/Fedora-17-x86_64-DVD.iso of=/dev/sdb
or
Code:
dd if=Fedora-17-x86_64-DVD.iso of=/dev/sdb
?
I'm using the DVD version, should I use desktop or is DVD ok? First time installing Linux btw :P
EDIT: Tried both commands, still Error 15: No file found "Click any key to continue..."

Wait a second! You are using windows! I am so sorry! I did not notice that before. The command line will work only in linux.
A similar method for fedora would be to follow this - http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to...d_Line_Methods
My apologies again.

This should work for both live CD and DVD.

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
Sorry, but isn't this all for users on Fedora system, I'm on Windows 7. Also, that rawwrite tool is outdated and does not support Windows 7 :/. I find it strange that the tool provided by Fedora itself (Live USB Creator) doesn't work as intended, that goes with the rest of the programs I tried too.

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
Thank you so much. Seems like I got it to work now:
Quote:
I meet the same problem, and I fix it by modify EFI/boot/bootx64.conf:
Delete the findios line.
Change the Disk label to "Live".
The final bootx64.conf looks like:
Code:
#debug --graphics
default=0
splashimage=/EFI/BOOT/splash.xpm.gz
timeout 5
hiddenmenu
title Fedora 17
kernel /images/pxeboot/vmlinuz root=live:CDLABEL=LIVE
initrd /images/pxeboot/initrd.img
title Test this media & start Fedora
kernel /images/pxeboot/vmlinuz root=live:CDLABEL=LIVE quiet rd.live.check
initrd /images/pxeboot/initrd.img
|
It acutally did this fix ... but I did it to the "desktop" version and not "dvd" version (silly me!) This fix works for the DVD version to everyone else with same issue.

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
I am having the same problems with F17 and the solutions above aren't working for me.
Its on an Asus ux31e ultrabook that has no optical drive. It is a UEFI system too.
I filed a bug HERE yesterday but there has been no action on it yet.
I am wide open for any suggestions as this beautiful laptop is not of any use to me if I cant install Fedora...
Cheers,
Jon

For some reason ubunto installs flawlessly on the same system.... Booo....
At least that confirms its not an issue with the hardware.
Cheers,
Jon

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
I got the same error when trying to install Fedora on my laptop after making the switch from Ubuntu. The culprit was that UEFI was enabled in my BIOS. As soon as it was disabled, the Fedora 17 install USB Stick completed the boot process and I was able to install Fedora 17.

Re: Error 15: File not found, USB boot Fedora 17
Disabling UEFI in my bios disabled my USB ports lol.
I found a "boot override" section in the save and exit section of my bios, in there it listed the USB drive as both a UEFI and a generic USB, upon selecting the generic drive it booted and installed fine
Cheers,
Jon
