Rhythmbox Equalizer

Hello,

I was having an issue with the pulseaudio-equalizer an rhythmbox, sound gets really crackly but so far only with rhythmbox, youtube sounds just fine. I tried installing the rhythmbox equalizer thinking I can just use this for now as a work around, I don't mind the extra few clicks to disable one equalizer for a short time then enable it later. So I install the rhythmbox equalizer from the package manager, restart rhythmbox and go to the plugins list and it's not there, am I missing something?

Thanks!

Rhythmbox crashes or freezes. My latest attempt was with F16, still buggy.

Give VLC a try It has an equalizer.

To install on Fedora, you will have to add RPMfusion (free) repo. VLC (pre 2.x) does not have cross fade. F17 has the latest VLC (2.x) and I believe cross fade.

And for ripping cd's (if needed), I recommend Asunder. Burning content, I recommend Xfburn.

Good audio managing group: VLC, Asunder, and Xfburn.

Re: Rhythmbox Equalizer

Thanks for the reply, does VLC manage playlists/albums in the way rhythmbox does? Also does Asunder pull the artist/album/track info for the CD's prior to ripping them? Does it rip in a lossless format such as FLAC?

Burning CD's isn't particularly an issue as my car radio has a USB port, FLAC file support is a totally different question to which I'm sure the answer is "no" but thats what file type conversions are for lol

You can set up playlists with VLC, though I have not. This may sound a little crazy: but I make a folder and then copy the songs (.ogg) into it, and that is my playlist. With my portable player, usb drives, most anything, I just load my playlist folders and play. Organizing my music into playlist folders gives me the freedom to play my music on different music programs-devices (not tied to one). There is the duplication factor, I have my library of music, and too - copied music files into playlist folders. Though once you have playlist folders started, it is easy to swap songs in and out

Asunder is the best ripping program I have used. It supports FLAC, though I prefer OGG VORBIS. And it pulls album info if you like.
