I am a new user to fedora/linux systems >> Kindly help i want to start "mysql" on fedora 16

[root@localhost dear]# service mysqld start
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl start mysqld.service
Job failed. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details.

[root@localhost dear]# systemctl status mysqld.service
mysqld.service - MySQL database server
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/mysqld.service; enabled)
Active: failed since Sun, 29 Apr 2012 13:40:12 +0500; 49s ago
Process: 3853 ExecStartPre=/usr/libexec/mysqld-prepare-db-dir (code=exited, status=244)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/mysqld.service

More details >>>
yum --enablerepo=u*g update selinux\*
when it was updating it hanged and i had to fore to end the terminal >> badluck
then i ran following command >>>
yum-complete-transaction

now my folders open slowly on Nautilus too

I think that i have messed up the policies while tring to run mysqld....

Re: could not start mysql

how did you install mysql. It makes sense to use the package from the Fedora repo. Here is a guide how to install and configure it:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=94257 (see below the mySQL section)

for database administration you probably want either mysql-workbench or phpMyAdmin (for phpMyAdmin you would need a webserver as well).
