Printer driver for Lexmark C540n

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is a printer driver that will drive a Lexmark c540n laser printer? I have had a look on the Lexmark web site and could find no drivers for Fedora. Would a driver for, say, Red Hat function with this printer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think your going to be very happy, Lexmark does not have workable Linux printer drivers.
I thought they did:
http://www.lexmark.com/publications/...vers/en/ug.pdf
And I even found a link that had some drivers listed:
http://www.nodevice.com/driver/compa...k/Printer.html
But was told that the links didn't work and/or the drivers didn't work by a computer IT guy that I talked to in another forum.

BTW - if anyone has been successful finding a driver, I'd like to hear about it.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am not so much unhappy as mystified because a friend who has the same printer model and who has Ubuntu found a driver on the Lexmark site and it works. I got the printer last year and, because I was thinking of trying Linux, bought that model because Lexmark's literature said that there were Linux drivers for it.

However, that was seven or eight months ago so perhaps things have changed - the Lexmark web site certainly has.

Anyway, thanks again for your message

Chris
