Unhappy Problem with surround sound

Hi everybody,
I`m using Fedora 11. I just bought a Creative Audigy Soundblaster sound card. It is recognized by the system, but I can`t make it play sound on all channels in xmms or mplayer. The alsa test confirms that all channels are working - I can hear sound from all of them. I have read several posts in other forums about modifying my ./asoundrc, but they just don`t seem to work. I`ll be glad if anybody can help me with this. Thanks in advance.

I am assumming you are using pulseaudio. If not then just ignore my post.

I have F10 and F12, so not really sure which one of the following applicable to F11.

In F10, I modified /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to have below entry:

default-sample-channels = 8

The number is of course depends on the number of speakers you have. I got this tip from one of the post from this forum.

In F12, the surround speakers support is just a matter of selecting the right option in the gnome-volume-control. Click image for larger version

Still the same. xmms and mplayer only play the front channel, while alsatest plays all the channels.....

Have you rebooted your machine after the change? Either that or you need to kill and restart the pulseaudio daemon. I found the another post in Fedora forum that solves your problem. It is not the same post I was referring to, but it does not matter.

Welcome to forum. I recommend you use the search feature often
