Web Server and Joomla problems

My webserver is working fine when opening http://webserver. Checked the configs and directory/file owners and rights.

However, when trying to install a joomla site, I keep on getting an error that the configuration.php is not writable (although everything is set to apache:apache with 777. I manually created the configuration.php and uploaded to the joomla site's root.

When trying to run http://webserver/joomla, I get this error "No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting...:

All the forums suggests file and directory rights but I've checked those. What could be the problem?

THanks

Re: Web Server and Joomla problems

Did you check you httpd logs? The httpd error log may have more information on what's blocking write access to the config file.

To do so with your FTP software, right click on the directories then click permissions. After applying the modifications, you can refresh the page.If you need more help, try Piwik.org.

Re: Web Server and Joomla problems

Anyone who can help me please.

I've tried everything possible; from setting user&group to apache:apache, 777 file permissions; went through the httpd and php.ini files. Nowhere can I figure out why all my sites below http://webserver/xxxx is giving me the same issues - No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting....

I can install a Joomla or any other webapp, but as soon as I run it after installation, I get this error.

Please help!!!

Thanks

Re: Web Server and Joomla problems

The errors you posted look like system log errors, at least my httpd error.log is very different looking. Did you check the httpd (apache) logs?
