Question [Fedora25]WiFi-Connection instantly loses Internet access

Hello everyone!

I am using a fresh install of Fedora25 on a Thinkpad X220.
When connecting to my wifi, the connetion can be established but I lose internet access almost immediately after connecting.
To clarify:
I run ping 8.8.8.8, then connect to wifi, 2 pings are successful, then i cant reach 8.8.8.8 anymore.
The same holds true when pinging my gateway.

Further information:
- The network adapter is a intel centrino advanced-n 6205
- I am using the GUI that comes with GNOME to connect (but also tried creating a profile using nmcli which yields the same result)
- the wifi Icon sometimes changes to a ? but even if it doesn't, there is no internet access
- when using my phone as wifi hotspot, the notebook can connect to it and everything works as it should
- The network uses WPA2 and 2.4 GHz
- other devices (computers running windows, tablets, phones, gaming consoles,...) all use this wifi connection without issues -> why doesn't it play nice with fedora?

Could someone please help me identify the issue?
If further information is required, just ask.

Thanks in advance,
pixy001

Since i installed an SSD, I had to reinstall fedora.
I configured WiFi just like before but for some reason it just works now.

Sorry for not being able to pinpoint the issue.

Any chance you're using static I.P.s an two devices are using the same address (your current device, and maybe another)?

- just scratching my head here ...

Thanks for your answer! Good idea, but no, the IP doesn't collide with any other IPs on my network

Regarding my previous post: Well...I thought the problem disappeared - it didn't. The same symptoms persist. No internet. I tried booting the old kernel (the one that comes with the installation) but the issues are the same. (Currently I am on the latest kernel from the repository)
.
Can't find any error messages either...

I found this:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1252893

I am using an access point with 802.11 b/g/n that automatically switches between 20 and 40Mhz.
I configured it to only use 802.11b/g and voilà: WiFi is stable now.

I would say GNOME's network configuration is pretty bad...

Lots of bits and pieces missing or wrong...

The others spins rarely get this problem

I am using LXDE (installed alongside GNOME). It doesn't make a difference whether configuring the network using GNOME or LXDE as desktop environment in this case. Both approaches resulted in the same issue.

Out of curiosity: is there a difference between installing the LXDE spin or installing LXDE after installing Fedora with GNOME? (Aside from two DEs being present)

There are differences, using LXDE on top configurations set up by GNOME may make some LXDE settings incompatible

GNOME is known for breaking things

For NetworkManager I don't think it make much differences but I dunno, you really need to try LXDE spin and see the difference yourself

Doesn't fedora (Gnome) use the Gnome control-center network management tool these days? I use wicd instead which works well.

Re: [Fedora25]WiFi-Connection instantly loses Internet access

I have similar problem
I am using fedora 25 fresh installation, after updating to kernel 4.10.11-200 the problem started & is continued in kernel 4.10.12-200
I tried installing broadcom-wl with kmod as well as broadcom-wl-dkms, No solution infact it ends up braking some other component.

I had to reinstalll fedora, but no changes
heres some more information

Re: [Fedora25]WiFi-Connection instantly loses Internet access

I too have the same problem after updating kernel 4.10.11-200 & the problem is continued in the latest kernel 4.10.12-200 as well.

I tried installing broadcom-wl and kom as well as broadcom-wl-dkms it didn't work. and there's too much confusion over exactly what is creating the problem. it often turns out that the solution ends up braking some other component.
