google search changes with an underscore

How does adding an underscore change a google search? I was searching for John Elway and got different results with and without an unscore.

Re: google search changes with an underscore

Just a guess but probably just the way Google indexes things. Google is smart enough to eliminate the underscore before search of course but then you will notice that a lot of the found results for the queries with the underscore finds the search term within URLs -- not page content (which makes sense). Since, it is less common to find a white space in URLs (in fact white space should be URL encoded), it makes a little bit of difference between a search term with an underscore and one without for Google (or any search engine).
