Best Lightweight Image resizer / crop

Gimp can do what I want but it's too complex and slow for quickly handling images / photos

I want to open an image, resize it (MB --> K) and crop

is there anything lightweight to do this in Gnome?
Fedora 17

thanks in advance

Re: Best Lightweight Image resizer / crop

You might try gthumb. It's been a while since I looked at it, but I think it used to do that.

EDIT: Nope. I take that back. It doesn't do much at all. Must have been something else I remembered.

EDIT 2: Hello! Ayup. It will do all that. It's just disabled on new installs now. You have to hit the plugins dialogue and turn the durn stuff back on. <....>

ImageMagick isn't quite lightweight, but has various command lines to do that sort of thing.

is just one example

Hi,

I second smr54 - the 'convert' command-line tool from ImageMagic is excellent in quick resizing, reformatting et al - especially if you want batch processing.

WWell,

Actually, there is something called Pinta. I like it very much - very convenient to use.

Note that as this is a Linux forum, sending the poster to Windows software might not be what they're seeking.

Hmmm.

Good point.

Shutter is a screenshot app that includes a lightweight editor. Included in the fedora repos.

"nautilus-image-converter" gives "Resize Images" when right click of mouse button on image thumbnail.

Re: Best Lightweight Image resizer / crop

I would give ImageMagick +1, or if a GUI is required i'd vote for 'mtpaint'.
