Media Devices Dissapearing Over Time

I am running Fedora 16 x86_64 on a toshiba laptop.

Over time, my devices have been steadily disappearing. I have had this problem in previous installs of fedora. While running f15, my speakers stopped working within a week after install. On a previous install of f16, the speakers lasted about a month before mysteriously ceasing to work. On my latest install (From late february), the speakers went over 6 months ago. I was not very put off by this, as I seldom use the speakers in favor of headphones. However, 2 weeks ago, my webcam and microphone went out. I use these much more often, and nee to fix this. Applications using the webcam display 'No device found'. This is persistant across reboots. Cheese, skype, and tinychat, and audacity all cannot access them. They are not visible on alsamixer.
