[SOLVED] NeverNote on Fedora

Was researching the evernote as a replacement to Microsofts OneNote. Although evernote doesn't have a linux client (and they would be smart to get this going) there is a opensource that has been developed using the evernote api's. Its call nevernote (also nixnote) and there is rpms for it but I was wondering if anyone is running it from these released rpms? How does it do against Windows/IOS/Android clients and is it worth moving forward with evernote? Any other fedora information about installing and running nevernote?

Installed the rpm with:

yum install nixnote-1.2-2.i386.rpm

this worked and even put a icon in the applications screen. I started it up and went to tools/connect and entered my EverNote account info, then clicked the Synchronize button and all my notebooks were there. It auto syncs up every 15 minutes by default. Finally have a note system that is synced across all my systems including f17. Nice very very nice!

Hi, I tried Nixnote with Fedora 17 64 bit, but can't sync due to "SSL support not found". Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance .

That what it says? Well do you have openssl installed?

I'm running 32bit F17...

Hi, thanks for answering and sorry for the delay. Yes I have openssl installed. When I run Nevernote from the command prompt, this is what I get:

I get the same messages as soon as I launch NeverNote and when trying to sync.

Hello, I wonder why is this thread marked as SOLVED. I also have the same problem of running Nixnote 1.3 and 1.4 on Fedora 17 64bit and couldn't find anything here that would help me solve the issue.

The message I get as I try to sync is the same: SSL Support not found.

Any help with this? Is there some other thread where how to actually solve the issue is explained?

running from terminal I get this message:

one small correction: Gth+-devel = Gtk+-devel

It's marked solved because it is solved for me. You have a different issue and you should start a tread for it here and at the nevernote forum. I didn't have your issue. Mine is solved.

Thanx for clarification. It wasn't obvious to me because the other user, boricua didn't seem to have the problem resolved. I guess solved status is somewhat more complete now. Thanx again for help.

Interesting about openssl-devel and gtk+-devel. Of the two I only have gtk+-devel installed and nevernote works fine.

Yeah I usually close up my questions when they are answered or no longer relevant because of an upgrade. I had left this one open since Oct 2012 for the ssl user, but when the new F18 showed up I closed it and opened a new nevernote in F18 issue...

I think it would be nice if there were a couple different ways to show status of a thread!

Hi,
I never got it solved. I am now using Fedora 18; tried to install Nevernote and got the weird installation issues discussed here and elsewhere in this forum. I will wait for a future version to try it again.
