Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

Anybody having issues with Firefox 18 in Fedora 18. Recent update causing Firefox to either not start up, or start real slow. Sometimes it acts like it is starting, then it stalls. Attempting to restart gives message the Firefox is still running, close and try again.

Yes I am faced with the same issue... sometimes the system as to open firefox in "safemode' in addons disabled mode...

Could be an issue with addons... I haven't yet checked the issue.

See what addons you've got in there and try disabling them one by one.

It's the icedtea-web plugin.
But disable it isn't enough. You must uninstall it. There is a bug in bugzilla.

Re: Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

I am running Firefox 18 on Fedora 18. I do not have any issues with so far. I have icetea-web plugin installed too. In fact, I have about 6 or 7 addons and I am not seeing issues with anything at all. In fact, the mozilla profile I am using is copied from my F17 installation and then I updated firefox to FF18.

Is the behavior same if you create a new user profile in firefox?

Re: Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

It seems related to this bug

An updated rpm has just been published.

I'll try it this evening...

I am running Firefox 18 on KDE. Seems OK. My add-ons are xmarks, USA English spelling, French Spelling Dictionary, and Spanish Spelling checkers. I will later try ad-bloc

Re: Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

Interesting.

I have never even noticed this bug, and I've been running Firefox 18 with the icedtea plugin for awhile now in F18. Starts for me just about any way I try to start it. From the menu, from the panel, from the command line, all seem to work normally.

Re: Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

Isn't it the conbination of the icedtea web plugin AND the adblock+ plugin which trigger this bug ?

Re: Firefox 18 /Fedora 18

Firefox starts okay here, but trying to scroll through the bookmarks menu is very slow
and jerky and 2 of my cores jump up to 50-60% capacity. Using the up/down arrow keys
to scroll through pages also doesn't work very well - the first time I hit downarrow takes me
to the bottom of the page.

I don't get any of these issues in Firefox 18 in Arch, perhaps because I'm using the nvidia
driver there and nouveau in F18.

You know that might be the case. I am not seeing any of the problems above on F18/xfce. I am also using nvidia driver instead of nouveau.

Could be.

The one time I thought was just a glitch, right after I updated one machine to Firefox 18, the first time I tried to run firefox, it didn't come up. But it has worked fine ever since. That machine is using the nouveau driver. My other machines are using intel drivers, and no issues on them.

I had forgotten about that little glitch until you mentioned the nvidia drivers.
