Unhappy Kernels above 4.7.4 black screen

Hey fellow Fedora users! Long time Linux server admin & desktop user here, but I can't seem to figure this one out - so this is my first time asking for help!

I've been running Fedora since ~19 (Ubuntu, Mint, Slackware, Gentoo before that). I'm on 24 now, and it's been pretty good. But, new kernels won't boot, and neither will live USBs with v25 on them.

Laptop: Vaio Z (the newer Japanese ones, not Sony)
CPU: Intel i7 64bit
BIOS: Phoenix, in UEFI mode
Secureboot: Enabled
TPM: Enabled
Graphics: Intel i915
Working kernel: 4.7.4-200.fc24.x86_64
Other notes: I do have a Samsung SSD that came RAIDed, though hasn't been a problem before

Situation:
Choose any newer kernel, or boot from USB, and I get a black screen, non-blinking cursor.

What I've tried:

Letting it sit there a while (F24 USB boots in seconds though, so was a long shot).

Numerous boot flags (intel_pstate=disable, nomodeset, etc.)

Disabling SecureBoot

Changing boot order / trying to trick it to load

Numerous USB writing options (dd, Fedora Media Writer, etc.) - though I know the medium is fine - hash is valid + it boots on other computers

Checking journalctl after failed boot, then booting into working version (didn't see anything relevant)

Disabled SELinux

Removed + reinstalled kernels + regenerated Grub menu

Loaded a Gnome Wayland session (I usually use Cinnamon, but have both), and it worked fine

Where I'm At
Usually problems come with clues or error messages.. this black/blank screen has me totally confused. This is my work machine (I'm a developer), and I've been loving Fedora since I switched to it exclusively. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

* Clarification on the timeline - I've been running since F19 + some other distros, but only since F23 on this particular machine. I did successfully upgrade using dnf from 23 - 24, and it's been pretty stable otherwise.
