GCC for Fedora

I am new user to Linux. I installed fedora 12, and wanted to install XINE - movie player. During the compilation it says -checking for gcc ---- no; checking for cc ----- no; no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH.

Do I need GCC and do i have to install it seperately? Where I should find it?

Any help

Thanks

So... why not just:
su
yum install xine

It's always best to get software from reputable repos in pre-compiled RPMs. See: http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f12.html

P.S. You can also use the default RPM package manager GUI ("PackageKit") to install new stuff from available software repos. Just start it from the menus.

error: db4 error (-30974) from dbenv -> close DB_RUNRECOVERY: fatal error, run database recovery

any suggestion ?

There is obviously a lot more going on here than what we can see from your posts. The RPM error in your last post is not related to GCC compilers nor Xine in any way. It is RPM database corruption, usually caused by a crash (or force-kill) of YUM or RPM (or OS re-set) during a transaction commit. Fix: http://www.rpm.org/wiki/Docs/RpmRecovery
