Package kit killed!

Hello ,

I have installed fedora 16... I am a new to Linux , installed with the intention of understanding Linux.... Now , when i was installing gcc compiler using yum, i got the message yum lock was held by Package kit , i failed to recognize that it is responsible for refreshing software packages in add/remove programs.... I killed that process... ... Now i want some packages to be installed and my package kit is nt working... Whhat shoud be done to make my add/remove softwares working as before...

Thanks in advance

Ajay
