In a terminal as root: yum install yumex

yumex is a graphical frontend for yum. Open yumex and go to group view>office & productivity, then check which parts of Open Office you want to install.

Thank you

I have just installed Fedora, and now looking to complete the installation by installing OpenOffice.

The info here has helped tremendously...Yumex is installing as I write.

Thanks to all who contributed here.

If you're using F15 Open Office has been replaced by its fork, LibreOffice.
Try < yum install libreoffice driver >

I am new to this OS....I have read the post and tried to type in # yum install openoffice.org* but that didn't work. I am not sure how to change to "root."

Any help you can provide would be great.

do this

Open terminal

Code:

password:
yum install @office
there's su - and su however if you prefer, setup sudo by either using Dangermouses AutoPlus located in Guides & Solutions or click on Fedora Set-up Guide in yellow font and click on the mjmwired howto setup sudo

to Learn YUM Commands type this in Terminal yum help

to learn RPM commands type this rpm help

or

man rpm

use ya man pages to find information on how to do something with rpm
